In a collaborative effort, the Nepali Army, Nepal Police, and Armed Police Force Nepal conducted a fire control exercise on Saturday in Khotang. This demonstration was part of a week-long fire awareness program launched by the Division Forest Office.
The security personnel practiced fire line construction and suppression techniques at Chandraman Community Forest in Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality-4 Khalle, demonstrating practical skills for fire prevention and response. Residents also participated in the exercise.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Purushottam Khadka emphasized the importance of community cooperation in firefighting efforts. He warned that individuals found deliberately setting forest fires can face up to 12 years in prison.
Pashupati Dahal, head of the forest office, explained that the awareness campaign aims to reduce the risk of forest fires and other fire-related incidents during the dry season.
