Kathmandu District Administration Office has directed hotel and restaurant owners to organize the use of tobacco products, including hookah and cigarettes, in a systematic manner.

The office stated that unorganized smoking in hotels and restaurants has affected the health of non-smokers, and urged business owners to comply with the law.

According to the Tobacco (Control and Regulation) Act, 2068, the administration has instructed business owners to clearly distinguish between smoking and non-smoking areas.

Hotel and restaurant owners have been told to enclose smoking areas on all sides to prevent smoke from affecting other people.

The administration has informed all business owners to meet the standards set by the law while operating hotels and restaurants.

A warning has been issued that if any business is found to be violating the law, action will be taken according to Section 17 of the Tobacco (Control and Regulation) Act, 2068.

The administration has urged business owners and service recipients to effectively implement smoking control measures to protect public health.
