Dr. Dhawal Shumsher Jabra, president of the newly formed Jay Nepal Party, has accused the Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) of failing to effectively advance its agenda of restoring the monarchy and a Hindu state.
Addressing a press conference in Kathmandu on Thursday, Dr. Jabra alleged that the RPP had only exploited the names of the king and Hinduism to collect votes but had failed to implement its core agenda when given the opportunity.
He claimed that the RPP had conducted a referendum in the name of the king for 37 years but had failed to implement its agenda when the people gave them a chance. Dr. Jabra attributed this failure to the party leadership’s personal interests.
The party president also expressed dissatisfaction with the RPP’s activities, citing the fact that 97% of the party’s candidates had lost their deposits in the previous election.
Dr. Jabra argued that the people’s dissatisfaction with the RPP’s activities, rather than the monarchy or Hindu state agenda, was reflected in the election results. He stated, ‘The Rastriya Prajatantra Party collected votes in the name of the king for 37 years. Whenever the people gave them a chance, they sacrificed their agenda for personal interests.’
He further added, ‘We understand that the Nepali people did not reject the concept of a Hindu kingdom or a monarchy with a king. They rejected the RPP’s activities, which is why they did not get votes.’
Dr. Jabra claimed that the Jay Nepal Party was formed to save the agenda of the king and Hindu state, which he believed was being abandoned after the election results.
