The Japanese government has pledged to grant assistance to construct a new health post in the Sindhuli District of Nepal. The project is part of Japan’s ongoing commitment to improving healthcare access in rural communities.
Japanese Ambassador to Nepal, Kikuta Yutaka, signed the grant contract with Siramala Tamang, Chairperson of Sahakarya Nepal, Sindhuli, at a ceremony hosted by the Embassy of Japan in Kathmandu. The project receives funding through the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP) and represents a grant of USD 73,747 (approximately NPR 9.7 million).
Community in Need
The new health post will serve Ward No.1 of Golanjor Rural Municipality, replacing a 40-year-old facility. The current health post poses significant safety risks due to deterioration and has limited treatment capacity, offering only a single room for patient services. The Japanese grant will fund a modernized facility to provide a safer and more efficient environment for medical services in the area.
Golanjor Rural Municipality and Sahakarya Nepal, Sindhuli will manage the project. The municipality has committed to supplying the new health post with the necessary medical equipment, staff, and resources for operations.
The Embassy of Japan expressed confidence that this initiative will enhance the availability of quality medical care in the rural community and uplift the overall health of residents. Furthermore, the embassy highlighted the project as a symbol of the enduring friendship between Japan and Nepal.
Since 1991, Japan’s GGP has provided financial support for over 200 projects across Nepal, supporting various grassroots initiatives that contribute to the socio-economic development of local communities.
