Telangana, India -Six youths tragically drowned in two separate incidents across the state of Telangana during Holi celebrations on Monday. The first incident occurred at the Wardha River in the Kumaram Bheem Asifabad district, claiming the lives of four young men. In a separate incident, two more youths drowned in a lake located within the Rangareddy district.
The four victims in the Wardha River drowning, all in the 22-25 age group, were residents of Nadeemabad village. They had reportedly gone to the river to bathe after playing Holi with friends. Local police suspect alcohol may have been a factor in the incident. Authorities recovered the bodies with the assistance of fishermen and swimmers.
An investigation is underway to determine the precise circumstances surrounding both drowning incidents.
