MUMBAI, INDIA – Gunshots erupted outside the Mumbai home of Bollywood superstar Salman Khan early Sunday morning. Police confirmed that two unidentified individuals on a motorcycle fired five rounds in the vicinity of the actor’s residence in the Bandra area around 5 am.
Salman Khan, who is protected by Y-plus category security, was present at his Galaxy Apartment residence during the incident. The Bandra police have begun an investigation, with a First Information Report being filed. The local police crime branch is also conducting a parallel inquiry.
Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage in the area, hoping to identify the assailants who were reportedly wearing helmets.
This incident raises serious concerns as Mumbai police had previously reviewed Salman Khan’s security in September 2023 following threats from notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Bishnoi had threatened the actor through social media posts, potentially connecting him to a prior shooting incident at the residence of Punjabi singer-actor Gippy Grewal in Canada.
Bishnoi’s messages warned Khan while referencing the murder of Sidhu Moose Wala, stating, “We all know the kind of person he was and the criminal associations he had… You’ve now landed on our radar. Consider this a trailer; the full film will be released soon. Flee to any country you wish, but remember, death doesn’t require a visa; it comes uninvited.”
In March 2023, Bishnoi allegedly sent a direct threat to Salman Khan via mail. The motive behind Sunday’s shooting is currently unknown and under investigation.
