Iconic Gopi Krishna Hall

Kathmandu, Nepal – Gopi Krishna Hall, a landmark cinema hall in the capital city of Chabahil, is set to shutter its doors for good. Citing mounting economic losses and the ongoing downturn in the film industry since the COVID-19 pandemic, the hall’s management has announced its permanent closure.

“We cannot bear the significant financial losses we’ve faced. The film industry’s struggles since the pandemic make it impossible to continue operations,” stated Nirak Paudel, Managing Director of Gopi Krishna Movies Pvt. Ltd.

The beloved cinema hall, which has been in operation since 2052 BS (approximately 1995 AD), will officially cease operations on the first day of Falgun (February 13th). This news marks a somber moment for moviegoers in Kathmandu, as Gopi Krishna Hall has been a significant part of the city’s entertainment landscape.
