A head-on collision between a passenger bus and a pick-up truck resulted in one fatality early this morning in Kapilvastu.
The accident occurred at 5:30 am in Buddha Bhumi Municipality 4, Jhadulamai. Bus number 02-001 KHA 0525, traveling from Kathmandu to Surkhet, collided with pick-up truck number LU 1 CHA 9284.
According to Police Inspector Anish Bhandari of the District Traffic Police Office, Kapilvastu, the pick-up driver, Hiralal Badhai of Kapilvastu Shivraj Municipality, was pronounced dead at the scene. The cause of death is reported to be injuries sustained when he was crushed in the vehicle after the impact.
Emergency responders extricated the driver after two hours. Other injured individuals were transported to Butwal for medical treatment. Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
