Donald Trump France Protests: US President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance have turned France’s latest wave of unrest into a political talking point, with Trump mocking the country’s history of revolutions and Vance blaming immigration policies for the violence. Their remarks followed nationwide demonstrations against rising living costs and poor public services that escalated into clashes with police, looting and fires across several French cities.

The unrest also damaged historic and public buildings, including the town hall in Limoges, while the country faced growing questions about public order and political discontent ahead of its next presidential election.

Trump took a sarcastic swipe at France as demonstrations turned violent and images of burning buildings and clashes circulated. He portrayed the country as a destination for people seeking to join a revolution, using the unrest to ridicule the situation.

“Let’s go to France? It’s a lovely place. No riots, no revolutions. You know, France seems to be so damn good for revolutions. It’s unbelievable. Let’s go to France and join the revolution,” Trump joked, taking a dig at the unrest gripping the European nation.

His comments came as residents woke up to scenes of damaged streets and public property following the demonstrations. The protests followed weeks of student-led agitation and drew support from labour groups and other demonstrators angry over economic pressures and public services.

Vance also commented on the unrest, linking the violence to immigration and arguing that Western countries had failed to address questions about assimilation. His remarks shifted attention from the immediate causes of the demonstrations to a wider debate over migration and integration.

“Western liberals imported the third world into France and other countries in the name of diversity and compassion. They ignored fundamental questions of assimilation and compatibility,” Vance wrote in a post on X.
