A truck driver, 30-year-old Niraj Thakuri, was tragically killed in a collision with a pick-up truck on the Koshi highway in Dhankuta municipality 6 on Thursday afternoon. Thakuri, a resident of Dhankuta 9 Guthitar, originally from Siraha’s Lahan Golbazar, died at the scene.
The accident occurred when a pickup truck (No. BA 01-026 Cha 8992) traveling from Sidhuwa towards Dhankuta experienced a mechanical failure and stopped on the side of the highway. The disabled pickup truck was then struck by a passing truck (No. BA 01-006 Kha 4652) that was in the process of loading gas.
Police are currently investigating the incident.
