Denmark has unveiled their 26-man squad for Euro 2024, with notable inclusions and surprising omissions as they prepare for the finals in Germany next month. Despite an outstanding season with Celtic, midfielder Matt O’Riley has not cut.
O’Riley, who was a key player in Celtic’s league and Scottish Cup double, scoring 19 goals and providing 13 assists last season, had made his debut for Denmark last November and earned his second cap in March. However, he was left out in favor of more experienced players like Christian Eriksen and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.
Eriksen, who is set to participate in his first European Championship since his cardiac arrest in 2021, continues to be a vital part of the squad. He rejoined international football in March 2022 and featured in the Qatar World Cup. Alongside him, Tottenham’s Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Brentford’s Mikkel Damsgaard will bolster the midfield.
