Candlelight Tribute Held in Thamel for Climbers Who Lost Their Lives on Broad Peak

A candlelight tribute was held in Thamel, Kathmandu, on Friday to pay respects to the climbers who lost their lives on Broad Peak in Pakistan. The event was organized by the Thamel Tourism Development Council to honor the memory of the 10 climbers who died in the avalanche.

Among the deceased were six Nepali climbers, including Nirmal Purja, also known as Nims Dai, Purba Chandra Gurung, Kili Pemba Sherpa, Nima Sherpa, Navang Thindu Sherpa, and Gyalu Sherpa. The other four climbers who lost their lives were Nadhirah Ahmed Abdullah Al Harthi from Oman, Sohail Sakhi from Pakistan, Wang Zhong from China, and Mallory Gais from the United States.

The candlelight tribute was attended by various dignitaries, including Sahadev Dhimal, a member of the Nepal Tourism Board, Raju Man Dangol, president of the Thamel Tourism Development Council, Bhawishwar Sharma, former president of the council, Ramesh Dhimal, a senior tourism entrepreneur, and Kumar Mani Thapaliya, president of the Nepal Association of Tour and Travel Agents (NATTA).
