A tragic bus accident occurred on the Narayangadh-Muglin road in Chitwan on Saturday night, March 16th. One person lost their life, and four others were injured.
According to District Police Office Chitwan spokesperson DSP Sriram Bhandari, the accident happened near Jalbire in Ichchhakamana rural municipality-6. A bus (Ga 1 Kha 8524) traveling from Gaur, Rautahat, to Pokhara, collided with a stationary truck (Na 6 Kha 3280) that had a flat tire.
The deceased has been identified as 37-year-old Gauri Das, a resident of Champaran, Motihari District, India.
The injured include:
- Hakeem Mia (33), truck driver, resident of Parsa Birgunj Metropolitan Municipality-23
- Pooja Gupta (25), resident of Sarlahi Barahathawa Municipality, Milan Chowk
- Amber Nath Kumar (32), resident of Ramanagara, Sitamarhi District, India
- Rita Gupta (39), resident of Majapur District, Bihar State, India
All injured are receiving treatment at Chitwan Medical College in Bharatpur.
The bus driver, 39-year-old Lakshman Gurung from Nawalparasi (Susta purba), Kawasoti municipality-14, has been taken into police custody.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
