Budhigandaki floods sweep away hydropower project camp

KATHMANDU: A flood in the Budhigandaki River has swept away a construction camp for the Budhigandaki Hydropower Project in Sallery, Chumanubri Rural Municipality-3 of Gorkha district.

Along with the camp, the flood also washed away some construction equipment.

The project is a 341-megawatt semi-reservoir type hydropower plant. Details regarding the extent of damage to other structures of the project are yet to be determined.

The total estimated cost for the construction of the project is Rs 70 billion.
