Bhatta, born in October 1936, was a prominent figure within the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist) and served as the President of the Progressive Writers’ Movement, leaving an indelible mark on both spheres.

Educationally accomplished, Bhatta completed his Master’s degree in English Literature in 1960 at Patna University, India. His academic journey also took him to The University of Leeds in West Yorkshire, England, where he earned his post-graduate diploma in 1982. In 1983, he furthered his studies, obtaining a Master’s in Education degree from The University of London.

Not only did Bhatta excel in academia, but he also actively participated in the political landscape. In 1999, he contested the election in the Baitadi-2 constituency, securing the second position with a commendable 7611 votes. His foray into politics reflected his commitment to societal progress and his dedication to advocating for the ideals he believed in.
