The exchange began on a friendly note, with the two embracing. Zayn said he now understood Reigns’ past comments about the pressure of being champion and the disrespect that comes with holding a title.
However, the mood changed when Reigns questioned whether Zayn’s Undisputed WWE Championship was more important than his own World Heavyweight Championship. Reigns argued that the title’s prestige depended on the person holding it and dismissed the significance of Zayn’s championship.
Zayn pushed back, pointing to the title’s history and suggesting that Reigns’ view had changed because he no longer held it.
Reigns then delivered a blunt assessment, saying the title had not meant anything since WrestleMania 40, when Cody Rhodes defeated him. He also questioned whether Zayn would still be champion by Crown Jewel.
The confrontation added tension to the build-up between the two champions. Penta later appeared with his Money in the Bank briefcase, reminding both Reigns and Zayn that he could potentially challenge for a championship.
