Aryna Sabalenka suffered another early exit in the Asian swing after American world No. 31 Ann Li stunned the second-ranked Belarusian 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(5) in the Round of 32 at the Wuhan Open 2026 on Wednesday.
Li secured the biggest win of her career after converting her 10th match point in a tense deciding-set tiebreak. The American recovered from 2-4 down in the second set to force a decider and eventually ended Sabalenka’s campaign in a match that lasted more than two hours.
The three-time champion had won her first 20 matches at the tournament before this loss and that unbeaten streak now ended.
