A tragic incident occurred in the Sindhuli district where a woman drowned in the Sunkoshi River.
The deceased has been identified as 30-year-old Chandrakala Hayu from Mewabote ward number 6. Hayu was reportedly bathing in the river with friends when she slipped on a stone and was swept away by the current.
Sindhuli Police Chief SP Gobinda Kafle confirmed the incident and informed that Hayu’s body was found in the middle of the river. As of Tuesday, her body is being prepared for an autopsy at Sindhuli Hospital before being handed over to her family.
With rising temperatures, authorities have urged people to exercise caution while visiting the river, as the number of incidents involving people bathing in the river tends to increase during the summer months.
