Shane Gillis is facing fresh backlash after his latest Saturday Night Live monologue featured jokes about women’s gym clothes, gay men and Adolf Hitler. The comedian’s remarks drew audible groans from the studio audience, while viewers criticised the monologue online, with particular attention on his description of women who wear tight workout clothes as “whores.”

Gillis returned to host the NBC sketch comedy show for the third time since his controversial 2019 firing. However, his latest appearance has once again put his provocative comedy under scrutiny.

What Did Shane Gillis Say On SNL?

Gillis began his monologue by talking about his weight and his discomfort with working out in public. “Going to the public gym as a fat guy, especially in New York, is a nightmare, dude,” he said, before joking about encountering muscular gay men who seemed unimpressed by his physique.

The tone shifted when he began discussing women’s workout clothes. “Also, I haven’t been to the gym in so long. I didn’t know women just dressed like whores now,” Gillis joked.

He went on to describe tight workout shorts, commenting on their bright colours and fit. He also complained about women filming themselves at the gym, joking that he might have appeared in the background of several TikTok videos. “I’m in the background of like 10 TikToks right now,” he said.
