After days of uncertainty and growing criticism over the venue for the WNBA Finals, the league has confirmed that the Atlanta Dream will host Games 3 and 4 at State Farm Arena in downtown Atlanta. The decision means the team’s first two home games of the 2026 Finals will take place at the much larger venue rather than Gateway Center, its regular-season home, which has a capacity of around 3,500 spectators. The change comes amid concerns that the smaller arena would struggle to accommodate the surge in fan interest for the championship series.
The move was finalised following discussions involving the Dream, the WNBA, the Atlanta Hawks and television broadcasters. Those negotiations also resulted in adjustments to the schedule, including a change to one game’s date and the start times. By shifting the Finals games to State Farm Arena, the league aims to provide more fans with an opportunity to watch the action in person while giving the championship series a venue better suited to the occasion.
Why Are the Atlanta Dream Moving WNBA Finals Games 3 and 4 to State Farm Arena?
The Atlanta Dream will have a bigger stage for their 2026 WNBA Finals campaign after the league confirmed that Games 3 and 4 against the Golden State Valkyries will be played at State Farm Arena. The decision follows days of uncertainty over the venue, with the Dream’s regular home, Gateway Center Arena, holding only around 3,500 spectators. Moving the games to the downtown Atlanta arena will significantly increase seating capacity and give more fans the opportunity to watch the championship series live.
