Who Is Sagal Abdi-Wali?
Sagal Abdi-Wali is a British Labour politician who previously served as the Leader of Camden Council in London. Born in Somalia, she arrived in the UK as a child refugee and grew up in Camden, where she later built her career in local government.
Her appointment as Camden Council leader in May 2026 made her the borough’s first Black woman to hold the position. Before entering Parliament, she worked on housing, community support and initiatives for residents across the borough.
