EJAE’s rise from a K-pop songwriter to a global music star has brought a major change to her personal life, too. The Korean-American singer-songwriter, known for her work on Netflix’s animated hit K-pop Demon Hunters, married music producer and composer Sam Kim in Seoul on October 17, 2026.

The couple chose a venue connected to EJAE’s childhood, bringing family memories and Korean traditions into a celebration that came after an exceptionally busy year for the artist.

Who is EJAE, the K-pop Demon Hunters Singer?

EJAE, whose real name is Kim Eun-jae, is a Korean-American singer-songwriter who rose to global fame for her work on Netflix’s animated film K-pop Demon Hunters. She provided the singing voice for Rumi, the leader of the fictional K-pop girl group HUNTR/X, and co-wrote and performed the hit song “Golden,” which won the Academy Award for Best Original Song in 2026.

Before gaining international recognition, EJAE trained under SM Entertainment and established herself as a songwriter in the K-pop industry, contributing to popular tracks such as Red Velvet’s “Psycho” and aespa’s “Drama.”

Her work on KPop Demon Hunters brought her singing and songwriting talents to a worldwide audience, making her one of the prominent musical figures associated with the film’s success.

EJAE and Sam Kim Get Married in Seoul

EJAE, whose real name is Kim Eun-jae, and Sam Kim exchanged vows at Stage 28, a cultural venue in Seoul’s Gangdong District. The location has a personal connection to the singer because it stands on the former residence site of her maternal grandfather, veteran Korean actor Shin Young-kyun.

The couple initially planned to hold their wedding in California in November. However, they changed their plans and brought the ceremony forward by about a month, choosing South Korea for a celebration that reflected their Korean heritage. According to reports, they organised the wedding in around four months while managing EJAE’s professional commitments after the success of KPop Demon Hunters.

EJAE shared the emotional connection she has with the location in an interview with Vogue. “My grandparents lived in the house at the venue when I was a little girl. I spent much of my childhood exploring the garden and walking with my grandfather in the hills behind the house,” she told the magazine.

Traditional Korean Ceremony Adds Meaning to the Wedding

Rather than limiting the celebrations to a modern outdoor ceremony, the couple incorporated paebaek, a traditional Korean wedding custom in which newlyweds pay respect to their families and receive blessings for married life.

The festivities included a traditional ceremony and a welcome party featuring Korean fusion cuisine. Photographs released by Vogue also showed the couple celebrating with guests at a reception held in a glasshouse-style space on the property. The celebrations brought together contemporary wedding elements and customs connected to the couple’s cultural background.

EJAE wore traditional hanbok outfits for the Korean ceremony and related celebrations. One outfit featured green and gold with a deep red skirt, while another combined lavender and butter-yellow shades. The different looks gave the singer an opportunity to include traditional Korean fashion in the wedding festivities.
