MAKAWANPUR, Nepal – Health officials in the Makawanpur district of Nepal have reported a significant outbreak of viral fever. Health posts and primary health centers under the Thaha Municipality are receiving 60 to 75 patients daily who present with symptoms of viral fever. Of those patients, 12 to 17 require hospitalization due to the severity of their condition.
The strain on local healthcare facilities has resulted in some patients being transferred to Hetauda Hospital, the district hospital, or hospitals in the neighboring Chitwan district for further treatment. Hetauda Hospital is also experiencing a high volume of patients with viral fever, seeing 65 to 74 cases daily and admitting 20 to 30 patients for inpatient care.
In response to the outbreak, the District Health Office has mobilized infectious disease control teams. These teams are working to contain the spread of the virus and provide necessary medical support.
