Sean Strickland is questioning his future in the UFC, with the reigning middleweight champion expressing frustration over fighter pay, the physical demands of mixed martial arts and his desire to explore professional boxing. The American has suggested that his interest in MMA is fading, even as he remains one of the division’s biggest names.
In a series of recent statements, Strickland criticised the UFC’s approach to fighter compensation and said he wants to pursue boxing, where he believes he could earn more while putting his body through less punishment. His comments have also drawn a response from former UFC two-division champion Daniel Cormier, who warned that the promotion should not want to lose a fighter of Strickland’s calibre.
Sean Strickland Says ‘UFC Doesn’t Care Anymore’
Strickland did not hold back while explaining his frustration with the UFC. He argued that fighters help build the promotion’s legacy but do not necessarily receive enough financial reward to walk away from the sport at the right time.
