Two women were killed by lightning while they were sleeping in their home in Rolpa district, Nepal, early Tuesday morning.
The victims have been identified as Jaita Gharti Magar, 22, and Gomala Gharti Magar, 14, both of Bhitri Gaun, Ward No. 3, Sunchhahari Rural Municipality.
The incident occurred at around 1:00 AM on Wednesday (June 26) when lightning struck their home. Both women were killed instantly, according to Rolpa District Police Chief DSP Bharat Lama.
Lama said that the women were sleeping in a room on the second floor of their home when the lightning struck. The lightning bolt hit the roof of the house and then traveled down to the room where the women were sleeping.
The bodies of the victims have been taken to the district hospital for postmortem examination.
Lama said that police are investigating the incident.
