Tragedy struck Salyan district yesterday as two individuals lost their lives after drowning in the Babai River.
The victims have been identified as 36-year-old Dil Bahadur Karki and 4-year-old Subas Pariyar, both residents of Tharitol in Kalimati Rural Municipality Ward 7. According to District Police Office Salyan Chief DSP Navin Karki, the two went fishing near their home on Saturday afternoon but failed to return by late evening.
A search was initiated, and their bodies were subsequently recovered. They were transported to Bheri sub-regional hospital in Nepalgunj for post-mortem examinations.
The cause of the drowning is under investigation by the police.
