By Thakur Prasad Acharya, Beni, Oct. 9: A new track has been opened at the challenging Kunauta section of the Beni-Jomsom-Korala road in Myagdi district after four days of continuous work following extensive damage caused by flooding in the Kali Gandaki River.
The flood, triggered by incessant rainfall from September 24 to 27, washed away a section of the road at Kunauta in Raghuganga Rural Municipality-2.
According to Tejaswi Sharma, chief of the Beni-Jomsom-Korala Road Project, a new track was opened along the approximately 250-metre section by deploying four large excavators and tipper trucks and working from both ends.
The section at Kunauta was considered the most challenging point for restoring the road after the Kali Gandaki River eroded and damaged the road.
The project said it reached Kunauta while reopening the road from Beni and then mobilised four large excavators and an equal number of tipper trucks continuously for four days to open the route from both ends.
