A young life was tragically cut short on Sunday in Baitadi, Nepal, as 15-year-old Rajani Chand drowned in the Mahakali River. Rajani, a resident of Shivanath Rural Municipality-1 Swala, was reportedly bathing near Kusmat Ghat at around 10 am when the incident occurred.
According to District Police Office Baitadi spokesperson Balram Pandey, Rajani’s body was recovered shortly after by residents and Nepal Police. The search for Ashmita Chand, a 12-year-old girl who accompanied Rajani to the river, is ongoing. Police and Armed Police Force personnel are working alongside residents to locate Ashmita.
Spokesperson Pandey confirmed that investigations into the incident are underway.
