Minnesota Vikings tight end T.J. Hockenson has been ruled out of Sunday’s Week 5 matchup against the New Orleans Saints after suffering a concussion, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport.

Hockenson was injured during Minnesota’s opening offensive drive after hitting his head hard on the turf.

The incident forced the Vikings to reassess their offensive personnel early in the game, with the veteran tight end unable to return.

The injury is a significant concern for Minnesota, particularly after Hockenson delivered one of his best performances of the season in the Vikings’ previous game against the Miami Dolphins.

What Happened To T.J. Hockenson?

Hockenson went down during the Vikings’ first offensive possession and remained on the field while receiving medical attention.

He subsequently made his way to the medical tent before heading toward the locker room with assistance from team personnel.

The tight end was able to leave the field under his own power. However, his departure did not immediately establish the severity of the injury.

Rapoport later reported that Hockenson had been ruled out with a concussion.

The designation means he will not return against New Orleans, although it does not establish how much additional time he might miss.
