Slow Horses Season 6 Episode 5 Recap: Sid Baker Attempts A Desperate Escape
The episode picks up after the previous installment in which Russian assassins Jim and Jane abducted Sid Baker. River is determined to rescue her and follows their trail, even resorting to taking a civilian’s vehicle to continue the pursuit.
Sid, meanwhile, refuses to remain a helpless captive. While Jane is driving, Sid attacks her using a licence plate magnet from a service station. The move causes the car to crash, giving Sid an opportunity to escape into the woods.
Jim initially believes Jane has been killed in the crash. Sid manages to get away from the vehicle, but Jim soon pursues her through the surrounding woodland.
River eventually reaches the crash site and follows the trail into the woods. Jim catches up with Sid near a lake and gains the upper hand, attempting to drown her. River arrives just in time to intervene, and a violent struggle follows.
Sid manages to strike Jim with a rock, and she and River force him into the water. Together, they drown the assassin, finally eliminating the immediate threat he poses to them.
However, the victory is short lived. Jane’s body has disappeared from the crash site, suggesting that she may have survived and could remain a danger.
Why Does Jackson Lamb Confront Diana Taverner?
While River is attempting to save Sid, Jackson Lamb is investigating the operation that led to the deaths of several former and current Slough House agents.
Lamb confronts Diana Taverner, the First Desk of MI5, after piecing together the connection between the killings, the Kazan operation and the disappearance of Slough House from the agency’s records.
The truth is that Diana arranged an unofficial operation in Russia after MI5 refused to fund a retaliatory mission. She used outside financial backing connected to media tycoon Damien Cantor to make the operation happen.
