The final stretch of the ATP season brings some of the biggest names in men’s tennis to Shanghai for the Shanghai Masters 2026. The ATP Masters 1000 event gets underway with the singles main draw on October 7 and will run through October 18 at the Qizhong Tennis Center.
Alexander Zverev leads the field as the top seed, while Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic, Daniil Medvedev, Ben Shelton and Felix Auger-Aliassime are among the other major names chasing the title. Defending champion Valentin Vacherot is also back in Shanghai looking to follow up on one of the most remarkable Masters 1000 runs in recent history.
Jannik Sinner, who won the Shanghai title in 2024, will not defend his crown after withdrawing because of a knee injury. The Italian has not played since winning Wimbledon in July.

Alexander Zverev
The top seed arrives in Shanghai having put together one of the strongest seasons of his career. Zverev has won two Grand Slam titles in 2026 (French Open, US Open) and is chasing his first Shanghai title after reaching the final in 2019. He also enters the tournament with the possibility of moving to No. 1 in the ATP rankings.

Carlos Alcaraz
Alcaraz is still searching for his first Shanghai Masters title. The Spaniard is the second seed and will begin his campaign against Juan Manuel Cerundolo or a qualifier. He is also coming into Shanghai with momentum after winning the Tokyo title.
The draw could eventually set up a meeting with defending champion Valentin Vacherot in the fourth round, while Daniil Medvedev or Taylor Fritz could await in the quarter-finals.
Novak Djokovic
Djokovic is chasing a record-extending fifth Shanghai Masters crown. The four-time champion has already won the Beijing title this year and returns to a tournament where he has enjoyed considerable success.
