Sarlahi police apprehended two Indian citizens, Shani Kumar Singh (28) and Jitendra Raut (24), who were included on a most-wanted list. The men were found in the Barahathawa Municipality-6 area. Police confiscated a 9mm pistol and magazine during the arrest.
The arrest resulted in a shootout after Jitendra Raut opened fire on police officers who arrived to detain him based on information provided by Indian authorities. Raut attempted a second escape while being transported, leading police to shoot him in the leg. He is currently hospitalized, and receiving treatment for his injuries.
The Sarlahi police will provide a detailed press conference regarding the incident on Tuesday morning at 9:30 am.
