An uncontrolled forest fire is wreaking havoc in the Bagarphant community forest of the Myagdi district, causing severe damage and threatening local settlements. The blaze has destroyed vital drinking water pipelines, leaving residents facing water shortages.

The fire continues to spread, engulfing hundreds of hectares of forest and destroying precious wildlife habitats. Flames have reached nearby forests, including Bagarphant, Lareni, and Birkhani, raising concerns about the fire reaching the lower settlement of Bhakimle.

“The fire is out of control, and human efforts alone cannot contain it,” said Top Bahadur Karki of Bagarphant. Locals are suffering from smoke inhalation, and authorities have warned residents of Bhakimle to remain vigilant as the fire encroaches.

Despite attempts by locals to extinguish the flames, the fire persists due to a lack of resources and personnel. The destruction of forests has devastated wildlife habitats and poses a significant threat to the region’s biodiversity.
