A day after October 28 has been announced as the polling date for local body elections, check posts have been set up in parts of Ongole, Addanki, Chimakurthi, and Darsi in Prakasam district. Special inspections are being conducted to monitor the transportation of cash, illicit liquor, and other prohibited items, said Superintendent of Police (SP) V. Harshavardhan Raju.

He inspected polling stations located within the limits of Darsi and Addanki Municipalities on Thursday. After chairing a review meeting with the officials, he said, “Robust police security arrangements have been put in place to ensure that the municipal elections are conducted peacefully and transparently.”
