The post-mortem analysis of Shalin Pokhrel discovered deceased in a Chitwan hostel, has refuted the assertions made by her family members, dispelling any indications of sexual assault before her demise.
Upon the insistence of the family, medical professionals at Kathmandu’s Teaching Hospital conducted the post-mortem examination of Pokhrel’s remains. After this examination, law enforcement sources have confirmed the absence of any evidence pointing to sexual assault.
Shalin Pokhrel, a 14-year-old resident of Ekta Shishu Niketan Boarding School in Ratnanagar Municipality-15, was discovered lifeless in her hostel room on a Saturday morning. Her body, suspended by a rope from the ceiling fan, was subsequently transported to the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Maharajgunj, Kathmandu, to undergo the postmortem procedure as per the family’s request.
In the wake of the teenager’s tragic demise, her family lodged a murder complaint. Acting upon this complaint, the authorities apprehended the school’s principal, Balhari Devkota (60), Vice Principal Kiran Bahadur Adhikari (40), and hostel warden Kamal Sharma Paudel (48) on Tuesday. The trio has been remanded for seven days by the Chitwan District Court’s ruling.
