One Nepali Dead, One Missing in Portuguese Sea

A Nepali national has tragically drowned off the coast of Montijo, Portugal, while a second Nepali man remains missing. The incident occurred Saturday night when the two men, cousins Dhan Bahadur Tamang (30) and Tek Bahadur Tamang (38), ventured into the sea to observe marine life.

Dhan Bahadur’s body was recovered by a rescue team on Sunday, while Tek Bahadur is still missing. Authorities were alerted immediately and have been conducting ongoing search efforts since Saturday.

The men were accompanied by two other Nepalis. Only Tek Bahadur’s bag and bucket have been found. Dhan Bahadur’s body is currently at Barreiro Hospital awaiting an autopsy.

Dhan Bahadur had arrived in Portugal from France for employment purposes the previous year. Tek Bahadur, having only arrived in Portugal from Croatia 18 days ago, was new to the area. Both men were residing in Montijo.
