What Is NYT Connections?

Connections is a daily word puzzle provided by The New York Times. In this game, players have 16 words, which they need to arrange into four groups of four words, which all belong to the same category.

There are four colours corresponding to different levels of difficulty as yellow, green, blue and purple. Contrary to Wordle, where you need to guess one word out of five letters within six guesses, Connections requires good vocabulary skills, lateral thinking and the ability to recognize patterns.

How to Play NYT Connections

  • Read all 16 words before selecting a group.
  • Identify four words that share a clear connection.
  • Select those words and submit your choice.
  • Look for the category revealed when a group is correct.
  • Avoid rushing, as overlapping meanings can create false connections.
  • Use elimination to narrow down the remaining categories.
