Kathmandu’s Commerce, Supplies and Consumer Protection Department conducted on-site inspections of 12 business firms in the Kathmandu Valley on Wednesday.

Following the inspections, the department fined New Diamond Furniture Center in Lalitpur Metropolitan City-20 Rs 10,000 for not providing purchase bills to customers, as per the Consumer Protection Act, 2075.

Ajima Chasma Ghar in Gongabu, Kathmandu, was also fined Rs 5,000. The department directed Sai Baba Gas Industry Kalanki to simplify gas distribution and Chandrabinayak Gas Store Chabahil to distribute cooking gas regularly and issue bills compulsorily.

Colony Products and Suppliers and Aman Tea Traders were directed to present business-related documents to the department within three days. Other firms were given corrective directives.

The department stated that necessary directives and actions were taken as per the Consumer Protection Act, 2075, and the Consumer Protection Regulations, 2076, during the inspections.

The department has been actively conducting inspections in collaboration with consumer rights activists and local stakeholders to control black marketing.
