High Housing Costs Complicate Family Planning for 72% of Nepalis

High housing costs are making it harder for Nepalis to plan their families and provide better opportunities for their children, according to a new global study. The report, Home at What Cost?, published by Habitat for Humanity International, found that 72 percent of Nepali respondents said housing expenses made family-planning decisions difficult. The global average was 56 percent. Among respondents with children, 73 percent expressed concern that housing costs limited the opportunities they could provide for their children. The study also found that 71 percent of Nepalis felt they had to give up some of their dreams and aspirations to continue living in their current homes. The findings highlight the broader effects of housing affordability, extending beyond household budgets to family decisions, children’s prospects and people’s long-term aspirations.

Sudurpaschim Presents Budget Totaling 37.70 Billion For FY 2026/27

The Sudurpaschim Province government presented an amended provincial budget totaling Rs 37.703 billion for the current fiscal year 2026/27, formally replacing the previous fiscal appropriations tabled.
