Nepal’s Special Court Set for Landmark Lalita Niwas Verdict

KATHMANDU – A highly anticipated decision in the Lalita Niwas Land Scam is expected today. The Special Court is poised to rule on accusations of government land misappropriation implicating powerful figures including former Deputy Prime Minister Bijay Kumar Gachhadar, former Minister Chandra Dev Joshi, and Bhatbhateni owner Min Bahadur Gurung.

The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) initiated the case in Magh 22, 2076 BS, alleging the unlawful transfer of state-owned land into private hands. Tuesday’s conclusion of hearings brought a statement from court spokesperson Dhan Bahadur Karki signaling an imminent verdict.
