A senior IT official at Myagang Rural Municipality in Nuwakot has been arrested on bribery charges. Birendra Tamang was taken into custody by the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Sunday afternoon.
According to the CIAA, Tamang was demanding an additional payment after already receiving a significant amount of money. The anti-corruption agency launched an investigation after receiving a complaint about Tamang’s actions.
Tamang was arrested in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-16, Balaju, with a large sum of money, including one lakh rupees that he had already received and an additional 5,000 rupees from an unknown source.
