The head of English football’s Independent Football Regulator (IFR), David Kogan, has said he would resign if politicians attempted to interfere in the regulatory process surrounding Manchester City.
Kogan’s warning comes as the club continues to challenge findings that it breached Premier League financial rules. The case could have major implications for City’s ownership if the findings are upheld.
Speaking to BBC Sport, Kogan stressed that the regulator would operate independently, regardless of political pressure.

“The Prime Minister is entirely entitled to make his own observations on anything,” Kogan said.
But when asked directly what he would do if politicians tried to influence his handling of the case, his response was unequivocal: “I would resign.”
Why Is David Kogan Warning Against Political Interference?
The comments follow criticism of Prime Minister Andy Burnham, who previously said he would be “really concerned” if Manchester City’s Abu Dhabi owners decided to sell the club.
