A jeep accident in Hilihang Rural Municipality-7 Salleri of Panchthar along the Phidim-Taplejung road section of Mechi highway resulted in 14 injuries, with seven individuals in serious condition. The jeep, with registration number Me 1 Ja 1947, was traveling from Taplejung to Jhapa when it veered off the road and plummeted 50 meters.
Those seriously injured include the driver, Prabin Danuwar, and passengers Chandra Prasad Thapa, Bandhana Bhandari, Prasan Subedi, Prasana Subedi, Kamala Rasaili, and Tulasa Rasaili. They were initially treated at Panchthar Hospital but have since been referred to Jhapa for further care.
According to District Police Office Panchthar spokesperson Sumit Kushwaha, the accident is believed to have occurred due to the driver losing control of the vehicle.
