Japan has demonstrated its commitment to Nepal’s safety by donating 12 recycled fire engines to bolster firefighting capabilities across the country.

The Ambassador of Japan to Nepal, Kikuta Yutaka, formalized the donation through grant contracts under the Grant Assistance for Grassroots Human Security Projects (GGP). The engines will be distributed to 12 municipalities in five provinces, addressing a critical need for firefighting equipment. Two experienced NGOs, the United Mission to Nepal (UMN) and Volunteer Corps Nepal (VCN), will facilitate the distribution.

These well-maintained Japanese fire engines will now get a second life protecting Nepali communities. The Embassy of Japan expresses confidence that this donation will significantly enhance fire safety in the recipient areas and further strengthen the ties between Japan and Nepal.
