KATHMANDU: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi stated that a seven-day proposal submitted by Iran to reopen the Strait of Hormuz remains under active discussion. He provided the update on Sunday while attending the 52nd session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Baghdad.
According to Araghchi, Iran has clearly outlined its conditions for ending hostile activities and reopening the strategic waterway, with the seven-day plan already presented to the United States. He noted that Washington has provided its feedback on the proposal, which Tehran is currently reviewing. Araghchi stated that the Iranian plan remains on the negotiating table. He explained that if the United States meets these conditions, the Strait of Hormuz would be reopened on the sixth day, followed by the resumption of talks on the seventh day.
