Hong Kong has recorded its highest temperature ever, with the mercury rising to 36.9 degrees Celsius on Sunday afternoon.
According to the Hong Kong Observatory, the temperature reached its peak at 3:30 pm, marking the highest recorded temperature since records began in 1884.
The observatory attributed the extreme heat to the outer atmospheric influence of Typhoon Dolphin, a tropical cyclone.
Weather forecasters predict that the intense heat will persist for several more days, with temperatures in some areas expected to soar above 37 degrees Celsius.
