Heavy rain lashed Salem, Krishnagiri, and Dharmapuri, and these three districts totally registered 1,156.30 mm of rainfall in the past 24 hours that ended at 6 a.m. on Sunday (October 18, 2026).

On Saturday (October 17, 2026) evening around 7 p.m., rain started to pour in various parts of the Salem district, and the rain continued till midnight at a moderate level. The Salem Corporation workers acted quickly on Saturday evening and started to remove the rainwater that had stagnated in the bus stand premises. Usually, for light amounts of rain, rainwater stagnates in the New Bus Stand premises. Considering this, the corporation has now desilted the stream passing near the New Bus Stand and paved the way for the free flow of water into the stream. The corporation workers also remove the stagnant water using motors. Due to this, buses are able to park and pick up passengers on Sunday.
