KATHMANDU: The Health Insurance Board has warned health institutions providing services under the national health insurance program against unnecessary medical tests, delays in service delivery and forcing insured patients to pay out of pocket for covered medicines and services.

In a notice addressed to all service provider health institutions, the board said claims for tests such as Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and thyroid function tests (TFT) would be rejected if they were not justified by patients’ symptoms, conditions and medical needs.
