The Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) alliance is with the people of Punjab, Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini said on Monday (August 10, 2026), adding that a meeting with the Prime Minister did not have to be seen “through a political lens”.

Mr. Saini was replying to a question on the possibility of the BJP forming an alliance again with the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) in the upcoming 2027 Punjab Assembly election, following a meeting last week between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and SAD president Sukhbir Singh Badal in New Delhi.

“The people of Punjab have now understood that the State’s development and the welfare of its people are possible only through a ‘double engine government’. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the voice of the hearts of 140 crore countrymen. If anyone wishes to meet the Prime Minister, they are free to do so. There is no need to view anyone meeting with the Prime Minister through a political lens,” the Haryana CM said at a press conference here.
