A Goa-based drug supplier, who had been absconding in a narcotics case registered in Hyderabad, has been apprehended in a joint operation by the Telangana EAGLE Force and Hyderabad police, with investigators uncovering financial transactions worth ₹48.4 lakh and identifying more than 25 persons from Telangana suspected of purchasing drugs through online payments.
The accused, Custodio Fernandes alias Kristy, a resident of Calangute in North Goa, was apprehended following sustained surveillance and intelligence gathering by the EAGLE Force, Hyderabad Enforcement Wing (H-NEW) and Punjagutta police.
What began as an investigation into a drug seizure in Punjagutta in May this year has now widened into a probe into a suspected inter-State supply network involving online payments, cash deposits and associates allegedly travelling from Goa to Hyderabad to deliver narcotics.
From a ₹40,000 purchase to a wider network
The investigation dates back to May 9, when the Punjagutta police apprehended R. Keshav Raj Singh, 30, a real estate businessman from Secunderabad, while he was attempting to sell drugs allegedly procured from Goa to three persons.
Police seized 13 grams of MDMA and seven grams of charas from the dashboard of his car.
During questioning, R. Keshav Raj Singh reportedly disclosed that he had been procuring drugs from two suppliers, identified as Vedank of Marredpally and Fernandes of Goa, and distributing them among his contacts.
